Synopsis

When Thomas the Tank Engine first chugged his way into the hearts of children through the pages of Rev. W. Awdry's series of storybooks back in 1945, no one could have predicted how long his train would run. Dusted off and repainted by Britt Allcroft in 1984 as a children's television show, Thomas & Friends became a series on American TV in 1989 called Shining Time Station. Since 1998, an updated program - Storytime with Thomas - has been riding the rails of success on the Fox Family Channel.

Never before has Thomas enjoyed the thrill of a feature-length movie - until now! Destination Films' Thomas and the Magic Railroad marks the little engine's big-screen debut. With the help of a very special engine who holds the secret to the Magic Railroad, Lady, Thomas is joined by old friends Annie, Clarabel, Percy, James, Henry, Gordon, Toby, Bertie the Bus and Harold the Helicopter to avert disaster caused by the poor sport Diesel 10 and his side-kicks Splatter and Dodge, in this classic story of the triumph of good over not-so-good.

On the way to visit her lonely Grandpa (played by Peter Fonda), young Lucy (played by Mara Wilson) encounters Thomas and the man who keeps the Magic Railroad safe, Mr. Conductor (played by Alec Baldwin), and embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. Accompanying the cast of characters, people and trains on their journey is a musical score that draws you into the magic.

Unforscene is proud to release the soundtrack to Thomas and the Magic Railroad featuring the music and songs of Montréal-born, two-time Emmy Award winning composer Hummie Mann, who has worked on such prestigious films as Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Sleepless in Seattle, Sister Act, Jetsons: The Movie, and The Addams Family. Performing Mann's songs for the film are Maren Ord, Dayna Manning and Joe Henry, along with Steven Page of the Barenaked Ladies doing his rendition of the original Shining Time Station song, "He's A Really Useful Engine."

Share with your child the memory that is evoked in "Through the Magic Buffers" or relive the unforgettable climax to Thomas' new story in "The Chase, The Clue & the Happy Ending". Thomas and the Magic Railroad promises to forge a new track for the cheeky little tank engine that has captured so many children's imaginations.
