Originating in the UK as a children's book in 1945, Thomas the Tank Engine was first introduced to North America TV in 1984 by producer Britt Allcroft. The show is so successful that Thomas will be making his big screen debut this July26th 2000.

The film Thomas and the Magic Railroad, staring Peter Fonda, Alec Baldwin and Mara Wilson will open nationally and the accompanying soundtrack, featuring the title song, "Really Useful Engine" from the pop band Barenaked Ladies' Steven Page will be in stores August 1st.
